Rider Protection Projectile 35 %


That is an additional 35% protection on top of any clothing or armour you are wearing. For example, wearing a hazmat, which has 30% projectile protection from head to toe, with the additional 35% projectile protection, brings the protection to 65% for all three hit-box areas, head, torso and legs/feet. This means using a horse with wooden armour to transport loot, particularly early game, is highly advantageous.

You can use up to 4 saddle bags to give the horse inventory space, but the horse armors also give 6 inventory slots! So using the horse armor does not limit the maximum horse inventory, while it does increase both horse armor and rider armor.
For farming nodes, I like to combine a wooden horse armor with 2 saddle bags and basic horse shoes for 18 extra slots without losing too much speed.
