The two types of swarms and their behavior.

  • Bee grenades "spread" similarly to incendiary rockets.

  • A single bee grenade contains one (1) Stationary swarm, and three (3) Homing swarms.

  • When the grenade hits the ground, it spawns one stationary swarm and one homing swarm.

  • The Stationary swarm remains where the grenade landed. And the Homing swarm (which initially spawns inside the stationary swarm) will begin targeting any player within its 10-meter aggro radius.

  • Once the first Homing swarm is chased away/destroyed with a flamethrower, the Stationary swarm begins “charging” a new Homing swarm and sends it after any player within 10m range.

  • After the second Homing swarm is dealt with, the Stationary swarm releases a final Homing swarm and despawns immediately after spawning the third swarm.

  • You can learn to distinguish between Homing Swarms and Stationary swarms by using a flamethrower. A Stationary swarm burns in place without moving, whereas a Homing swarm forms a burning, arrow-like shape that moves in a straight line toward the north, east, south, or west.

  • If a player stays within the Stationary swarm’s aggro radius while the first Homing swarm is attacking, no additional swarms will spawn. After a few minutes, the Stationary swarm will die and spawn a second Homing swarm, meaning the grenade thrower loses one third (1/3) of the total Homing swarms. There is not much you can do about this. Just know that the grenade you threw will spawn either two or three Homing swarms, depending on the enemy’s movement and how the stars align.

  • When aggroed, the first Homing swarm attacks the player for 270 seconds before despawning, the second attacks for 210 seconds, and the third for 150 seconds.

  • Bees can be avoided by standing next to sources of fire. This includes incendiary rockets, Molotovs, all types of fire ammunition in the game (including siege weapons), campfires, and the cursed cauldron.

  • However, the BBQ, cooking workbench, and skull fire pit do not work. The first two are possibly intentional, but the skull fire pit may be a glitch and unintentional.

  • While near fire, the bees will simply hover over the player until they move out of the fire’s range, after which the bees will continue targeting them.

  • Bee swarms cannot be killed with incendiary rockets, molotovs, etc. Only flamethrowers work on them.

  • Bee damage does stack, and both kinds of swarms do the same amount of damage.

  • Non-aggressive bees can linger for well over 120 minutes (Would have tested for longer, but the server crashed).

  • Bee grenades will always dud if thrown in shallow water, keep this in mind when defending a raid near water (swamps for example).

  • One box of bee grenades costs 7200 cloth, and should be sufficient for one big serious raid attempt.

  • A drone can carry 5 bee grenades.
