Large Planter Box

Large planters are a planter variant that fits nicely in a 1x1 floor/foundation. It can hold a maximum of 9 separate plants, including corn, hemp, and pumpkin. Seeds placed in a planter grow 2x as fast as they would normally on wild ground. Being exposed to light (be it natural sunlight or artificial ceiling lamps) further increases the growth time to 4x the normal speed. Planters also grant you the ability to water the plants, which significantly increases their yield when harvested. A fully matured hemp plant produces 10 cloth normally, but can produce up to 40 cloth when watered properly. To fill your planter with water, simply fill a bucket and dump it straight onto your planter. The maximum amount of water a large planter can hold at once is exactly 9000 ml, and once plants are planted they will soak up an initial amount of water, so it will drain the water fast initially. You may need to refill the planter several times if using many plants at the same time.

Full water saturation does not mean 100% for the plant's water attribute. The optimal water saturation for the planter is about 2/3 (6000 ml).

Here's a few tips regarding plant light levels:
  • There is currently no such thing as partial light levels. The plant is either receiving 100% light or none.
  • Light levels seem to update around once per minute.
  • Plants will never receive light through windows, even if the windows are empty.
  • If placed correctly, one row of plants can receive light through an empty wall frame or open garage door.
  • A plant in shadows may still receive light. The light graphics don't always align with the plant's light levels, especially when it comes to natural outdoor light.
  • When it comes to indoor lighting, only ceiling lights work. Other light sources like campfires and tuna can lamps do not provide light.

Seed growth stages:
  1. Seed (very short stage).
  2. Seedling.
  3. Sapling (at this stage you can clone the plant).
  4. Crossbreed (the most important stage for cloning, which lasts a very short time).
  5. Mature (you can harvest).
  6. Fruiting (you can harvest).
  7. Ripe (you can harvest with the most amount of output).
  8. Dying (the plant begins to die).

I get 100% on water condition from 4500 to ~7000 ml.

Be careful with your planter box placement when growing wider crops like hemp and pumpkins. If the placed too close to a wall, the outermost edge of plants may drop into items as soon as they grow large enough to clip into the wall.

Make sure the planter box is being snapped onto the foundation you are placing them on. Otherwise, this can cause problems including, but not limited to: planters not receiving water, certain plant slots not receiving proper light when they otherwise should, and planters clipping through your walls, allowing players outside to break them or harvest your plants.

If you have more than 1 of a seed in your seed stack, then if you hold the Shift key while looking at a plantable area in the planter box, then you can fill as many spots in the planter as possible with said seeds (as little as 2, at most 9)

If you place Pumpkins, and then harvest adjacent plants; sometimes you may not be able to re-plant until the pumpkin vine has been harvested.
Pumpkins placed on planter boxes have the same appearance as on the ground, their vines will appear to penetrate walls and appear on the other side but the plant cannot be interacted with except from the fruit.
If using corn as a food crop, harvested stalks will need to be destroyed before you can replant.
