The M92 is the perfect early game roaming weapon or farming weapon. Its rapid rate of fire in the right hands can quickly deal with a bear or naked trying to mash you for your sulfur. Although others suggest only tap firing, as a target gets closer, you should feel more comfortable rapid firing. Think of it like sonar, the further they are, the less you shoot. the closer they are, the more you can fire accurately making it rival even shotguns

Used to be one the best weapons in the game in terms of DPS due to the unlimited fire rate cap being able to melt full metals at 700-950 bpm accurately, but in 2021/Present day Rust, its a shell of its former self with the same fire rate cap as the p2 at 400 bpm along with progressively worse aim cone if you spray at max fire rate, still a somewhat viable gun but not close to what it used to be and you wouldn't take this over an Mp5 or tommy due to mag size unless you can hit multiple headshots which do a sizeable amount more damage than smgs.

this gun acts very differently with mods, so you can think of it as actually two guns
if you do not have holosight (t2 blueprint), then the zoom on this gun sucks so you can't shoot targets far away because they are so small on your screen. you may not believe this, but the semi-automatic rifle has a natural zoom that zooms in a lot without any mods. the m92 has barely any zoom, even with the simple homemade sight so it is difficult to see things from range and aim accurately. so without holosight, this gun is only a low and medium range gun.
without holosight, the m92 pistol is much better than the revolver at low range and medium range with the simple homemade sight, because the revolver cannot use the simple homemade sight - that means that you blinbds yourself everytime the revolver shoots and the recoil kicks it up to block your vision. the m92 pistol has the same problem, but it is largely fixed by the simple homemade sight mod. so a duel between an m92 pistol and a revolver will almost always end with the m92 pistol winning (because the revolver blinds himself everytime he shoots and the m92 with simple sight doesn't)
without holosight, the m92 pistol is about the same as the semi-automatic pistol. they are like twins. even though the m92 pistol has more bullets, you miss more because the m92 has a lot more recoil. the semi-automatic pistol misses less because it has less recoil. so if a m92 pistol empties his whole clip and a semi-automatic pistol empties his whole clip, they will get the same results (SAP hits 8 of 10 shots, and m92 hits like 9 of 15 shots). so in a duel between the m92 pistol and a SAP, the m92 pistol can only win if he starts firing first, as he needs to fire like 9 shots to kill (misses 4-5 times), while the SAP has to fire like 6 shots to kill (misses 2-3 times)
with holosight, you can use this gun from really nice range. since this gun has 90 range and the semi-automatic pistol has 45 range, this weapon is better than the semi-automatic pistol once you have holosight. the holosight gives you a crazy zoom in effect so you can finally hit people accurately from range. (but you still have the crazy recoil even with muzzle brake, so you should just use the sar if you want to use a gun from long range). ______________________________________________________________________________________________
tldr
m92 is better than revolver.
m92 is like SAP's twin. if they duel, the m92 will win if m92 starts firing before the SAP. SAP will win if they both start firing at the same time. SAP will win if the SAP starts firing first.
the holosight enables long range on the m92, but if you burst fire from long range, the recoil will make you miss a lot. so the sar is still far superior to the m92 at long range. so don't use the holosight on this, just use a sar.
would i recommend buying this from bandit camp for 250 scrap? no. you get destroyed by anyone who has sar, thompson, or any tier 3 workbench gun. and if you die, you wasted the 250 scrap to buy this from bandit camp. but if you do not run into anyone who has sar, thompson, or an even better gun, then you can destroy everyone you run into who has revolver or worse. you are literally gambling on who you will run into with 250 scrap.

The shooting performance of this gun (e.g controllable recoil, solid feel and accuracy, spammability) often makes players feel so comfortable in tapping it at a high speed, that most bullets in its relatively large magazine won't hit the target at all.
Shooting carefully (not disregarding the chances of an individual bullet) is most rewarding, and it doesn't take an exceptionally skilled shooter. This gun can only underperform in combat, because the shooter gets overconfident using it. The resulting sprays also result in excessive ammo wasting.
Note: it's very intimidating to be shot at, and surpressed by, an M92 pistol, which is also called the M9 - and especially when sprayed. For the M92, with most operators, we gotta empathasize on: "getting shot at", rather than "getting shot by" :)

If you're desperate for HQM, recycling one of these will net you a good bit for value. Purchase price is high, but cost/HQM is among the best for purchasables (as well as them usually being pretty cheap on the sulfur market.) Plus with the chance to get comps from it, a lot of the time you can craft a SAP from what you get and still have 9 HQM leftover.
