The Assault Rifle is an accurate, powerful, and fully automatic rifle that fires 5.56 rifle rounds. It has a moderate rate of fire which allows for proficiency at close to medium range. Strong recoil makes it more difficult to fire in full-auto at long range, but experienced users may be able to control it more effectively. The Assault Rifle is generally used as an end-game multipurpose weapon, able to take fights at any range.

The AK is an extremely powerful and popular weapon in Rust for its versatility and the ability to beat most other weapons at close and far range. It is expensive with the 50 HQ and the rifle body requirements.
For close range, recoil is mostly minimal and you will be focusing on the movement of an enemy when spraying at them. Unless absolutely necessary crouching is highly unadvised because of the slower movement speed making you an easier target and the unnecessary accuracy boost as the AK is very accurate even when moving and shooting.
Below 30 meters this gun will take 4 chest shots to wound a person with any armor. Above 30 meters the amount of hits required rises up to 5-6. Depending on what helmet the target has, a head shot will do as much damage as 2 chest shots.
Up to medium and long range you will want to avoid full spraying and shoot in bursts, not just to conserve ammo but also improve bullet efficiency and have a higher accuracy as the first few bullets are more accurate then the latter ones. Up to 100 meters it is beneficial to crouch however you will be vulnerable as it is easy to hit slow moving targets, even at long ranges. Bursting 3-7 bullets at a time are effective.

The Assault Rifle, more commonly knows as 'AK' is known as one of the best weapons in Rust. Capable of annihilating close range foes as well as mid-range with full automatic fire. AKs also do really well at long-range using tapfire, ak's are however somewhat hard to use as it has a rough recoil and a steep learning curve. AK is the most expensive weapon to craft.

Due to its cost, the AK (assault rifle) is a thing of its own .. which means, every AK has its own story - and therefore on (near) vanilla servers what matters most is the existing circulation of AK's.
Rather than crafting, most of them are acquired directly from the existing circulation, e.g in PVP after killing someone (that's why the AK is a focus whilst looting enemies), raids, or 'introduced' into the circulation from high end loot containers such as on cargo, oil rig, etc. Occasionally, a pretty rich clan can permit to craft a considerable amount of them. Crafting just isn't sustainable due to HQM and the rare rifle body component demands.
This tip explains why you always see clans of all sizes, no matter how much farming capacity they might have, collect as many AK's from the ground as they possibly could. The AK is really valuable, and a single one may have switched hands over 50 times.
Note: selling an AK in your vending machine on a (near) vanilla server is unlikely to work, because clans rather make PVP and raiding their main source of AK's, and most people don't want to research it because crafting them isn't a sustainable source of AK's, so it would purely be a convenience sale (needing to use the gun). Selling more than 1 at once (or selling AK's regularly) is also very likely to get your shop raided or your group base (if it's near) scouted, so take caution with that.

To learn the recoil here is the basic pattern, a short down left pull, a longer down right pull, then a down left about the same distance, then a down right about the same distance as the first down left. The first down left is the hardest because the first 2 bullets are a bit hard because the first bullet goes down left but the second bullet actually goes straight down . But you may notice if your crosshair is exactly on someone while spraying but none of the bullets hit this is because of Aim Cone, there are attachments you can use to reduce the aim cone such as the laser and holo sight, the aim cone if your spray didn't move from 200 meter's on a wall in rust (which I guess will be a 1 meter by 1 meter wall for reference) the bullets with iron sights would vary by a .9 meter radius, with just a laser sight it would be a .7 meter radius, and with holo it would be a .2 meter radius. Keep in mind if you are an iron sights user the first 5-8 bullets or so have very little aim cone (about as much as a holo) so if you do like irons I would reccomend to mainly practice the first 10-12 bullets and for holo 15-20. Also a Lower dpi is better and most "pro" ak players use 400 dpi and around .1 - .2 in game sense but there is outliers such as Hjune for example he uses 400 dpi and .4 in game while Taccullar uses 150 dpi and .3 in game, personally I use 400 dpi .14 ingame.
