Sunken Crate

The sunken crate is a new type of crate added on May 03 2018, and are found underwater, on and around shipwrecks in the ocean (marked on the surface by a floating water bottle). This new crate came into the game alongside boats as well as full diving gear, as they make acquiring these crates much easier. It should also be noted that the diving tank is the only part of the diving gear that is required in order to loot these crates (as otherwise players will drown), the other parts of the set simply make it easier/faster to do so.

These are always additional loot, but it's better to farm on the roads if you want to risk and get more, if you want to get less without a risk, you should choose farming underwater chests/crates.

If you made your base closer to water, and the roads are far, then you show consider diving to collect scrap and components. A diving tank is enough to start diving.

Probably easiest way to get stuff for auto turrets and various types of ammo. Also good way to get jackhammer and chainsaw early game if you have the time.

Pro Tip:
Get a combat knife, it has the ability to untie sunken crates and chests by hitting them.
It takes 2 hits for the sunken create and 3 hits for the sunken chest.
