Sulfur

One of the most valuable and sought after resources in rust, sulfur is useful to almost all players (with the exception of freshspawns) due to it being required to craft gunpowder, a resource necessary to create ammo as well as any explosive. It can be found in its ore form in sulfur nodes, identifiable by their distinct yellow colouring. This then needs to be smelted in a furnace in order to obtain its purified form seen here.

Since mining sulfur nodes give the least amount of ore than any other node, the resource is extremely rare in high quantities. It is highly sought after by those who have obtained and researched end game items such as C4, rockets, explosives, etc. It is best to store these resources deep within your base, rather than a quick dropbox lootroom. So that if raiders fail to reach the main loot room, they cannot use your own sulfur to create more explosives, and therefore use your own sulfur against you.
