Keep an air tank in your inventory. If you hit the space bar by accident you will exit the sub and not live long enough to get back to it.

you can keep these in a 2x1 space within a boat base, but the submarine needs more height than a boat so make sure you make your foundations extra high. also use a garage door, and its important to place a foundation under the garage door but you need to leave some empty space between the foundation and the garage door else the submarine cannot get through, and even worse if you don't put a foundation people can swim under the door.
If possible always keep this all twig until you ensure the submarine can enter and exit the base and that you cannot swim under the door.

You can shoot the driver from above, even if the metal ceiling is on the way. Only works with bullets and shotgun shells, not sure if arrows or melee weapons can hit.

Submarine Raid Defence For Ocean Bases


At some point during the wipe, you might think, “Ahh, I’m not going to bother upgrading this part of the base to HQM, it only increases the submarine raid cost by about 2k sulfur.” Wrong. Upgrading it to HQM from metal increases the raid cost by 40 pipes & 20 Minutes, which is an enormous amount. Submarine raiding is about pipes and time, not sulfur.

How to survive 2 direct torpedo hits:


  • Get an Advanced or Pure Crafting Tea and craft several sets of bucket helmets and wooden armor pants. (Must have 3 armor insert slots.) Bucket helmet is used because it allows diving goggles to be worn at the same time. Wooden armor is used because it provides natural explosion resistance, which the roadsign kilt does not.)

  • Place asbestos armor inserts inside them and pair the armors with a full set of diving equipment, along with wooden gloves.

  • Craft lots of grenades, around 20 or more for each attempt to destroy a submarine, even more if possible. Also bring one C4 charge per attempt.

  • Metal shield + combat knife is also very effective underwater. Allows you to tank speargun hits by temporarily swapping out your diving tank for a few seconds.

  • If you can, get Max Health Tea, it is very beneficial underwater, where healing is not possible.

  • Store the kits in lockers so you are ready during a raid. These are your submarine raid defence kits

How to play with these kits



  • The submarine will likely target the very bottom of your platform because it’s the safest spot for it. Its trying to destroy your base’s stability by sinking the entire platform from below.

  • Submarines will be destroyed by 1 C4 charge or 7 direct grenade hits.

  • Swim as deep as possible, all the way to the bottom of the ocean. Try to lure the submarine down there as well, since grenades are much easier to land near the sub at the ocean floor.

  • While you are attacking the submarine, your teammate should be upgrading and repairing the base

  • You always want the submarine to stay at the bottom. If it rises and does not have its barrel pointed directly at you, it cannot harm you. Its options are to continue the raid or flee to create distance, which is also acceptable because you are buying time for your teammates. If it keeps attacking the base and ignores you, even better, you should be swimming toward it with C4 ready.

  • You should be constantly spamming grenades at the submarine. If you can attach the C4 to it, the raid is pretty much over and you have won. Be careful though, the players inside may jump out and will likely be carrying spearguns.

  • If you manage to hug the submarine’s barrel when it fires a torpedo, the explosion will kill the person inside and deal roughly 80% of the submarine’s health. Meanwhile, you should survive because of your asbestos inserts.
