Auto Turret

The Auto Turret is a placed object used to detect enemies and shoot with its armed weapon. It detects enemies if the enemies were to reach its 180 degrees detection range or shoot the turret. The Auto Turret ignores the Tool Cupboard authorizations and only shoot people not in its authorize list so you and your team must authorize to it manually. You can arm any ranged weapons onto the Auto Turret and insert the ammo of the equipped weapon. You must turn the turret off in order to refill ammo and weapon slot. The Auto Turret can be turned on if the Power In slot is powering at least 10 rWm. There are 3 extra slots (Has Target, Low Ammo, No Ammo) that you can set up with Smart Alarm or traps, you must have 11 rWm for the Auto Turret to power the 3 slots. As an example, if someone walks into the detection range of the Auto Turret, 1 rWm will be used up to power out the Has Target slot. The Auto Turret has 2 modes, Peacekeeper and Attack All. By default, Attack All mode makes the turret targets unauthorized players. Peacekeeper mode only shoots hostile players that has the red sight icon on the top right corner, it works just like the Outpost turrets and Bandit Camp turrets.

For turret automation "Low Ammo" is considered less than or equal to 50 ammo in the turret. Also when the turret has no ammo both the "Low Ammo" and "No Ammo" lines get powered at the same time.

Instead of a weapon, you can put a trumpet inside a auto turret. It will shoot random notes at all your enemy's. You could use this as a audio alarm that someone is near your base. You could also use it as a HBHF with more range. You will have to deliver 13 energy to the turret and connect it to the "has target" output. If instead you want a less obnoxious long range HBHF, replace the turret with a eoka (or any other gun) and just leave the ammo out. It will still aim at people thus powering its "has target" output.

Many people know this but the Auto Turret can be baited. Once the Auto Turret locks onto an unauthorized player it will shoot at the player until they're dead, this of course can be exploited if someone baits the Auto Turret to shoot at them where the Auto Turret can not hit them.
Auto Turrets can shoot players from 20 - 30 meters away from all angles, this is roughly 10 foundations or 10 storeys high. While the Auto Turret can be baited to shoot, most raiders will destroy it by using explosives. Fortunately Auto Turrets can be protected through many ways, such as being enclosed behind a Prison Cell Wall or peak over a Low Wall (e.g. Stone Low Wall).
The Auto Turret has a 360° shooting angle when targeting someone, although has a 90° viewing angle when idled. That being said, the Auto Turret can not see a player if the player is behind it, only once the player has damaged the Auto Turret in any way will it react and target the player.
Auto Turrets can be a viable option for offense and defense. They can be used as protection when raiding, being set up around the breach making sure no 'outsiders' sneak up on the raiders. Conversely, they can be used as defense for a base, guarding loot rooms while the base owner is offline or away from their computer.
The Auto Turret can hold a maximum of 1,536 5.56 Rifle Ammo, unfortunately it can not use Explosive 5.56 Rifle Ammo, HV 5.56 Rifle Ammo, or Incendiary 5.56 Rifle Ammo.

If you want to use the (low ammo, no ammo, has target) outputs of the turret it needs to have more than 10 units of power, the recommended amount of power is 11 units if you are going to use the outputs since its most likely that only one of the outputs requires power at a time

This is how many auto turrets (with electrical branches set to 10) you can power (with a switch beforehand) for each battery:
  • Large: 9 (100 power used)
  • Medium: 4 (45 power used)
  • Small: 0 (1 without the switch or branch, 10 power used)

If you set the branches to 11 to allow use of the turret's outputs, these are the numbers:
  • Large: 8 (95 power used)
  • Medium: 4 (48 power used)
  • Small: 0

Using binoculars, you can put down spot-marks for things like other players. When controlled by a player, the auto turret has a fog that only lets it see just about less than half a grid around it. However, while the turret can see these spot-marks so it's possible to use something like glass, chainlink fences, rope netting, or shop fronts to spot for a player-controlled turret safely, making it so there is no risk to "peeking" enemy players at large distances. Though keep in mind player controlled turrets have a tiny cone of fire so it's hard to shoot perfectly accurately.

As of the current version (2/5/2021) the autoturret turns extremely slowly and may only get two or three hits on an enemy sprinting by the turret at a range. This makes mounting shotguns and bolt rifles more effective than rapid-fire weapons.

Extremely useful for trap bases, protecting your loot room, protecting your roof, or protecting you during a raid.
A turret is essentially having an extra aimbot player with you that never misses their shots, which is critical for solos. They are easily destroyed from fire arrows or HV rockets, so careful to protect them, given that they are extremely costly to build and maintain.

From now on, it is impossible to put more than 12 turrets within a radius of 40 meters, sparks will fly from the turret and it will not affect the players. But it did not affect the work through the computer desk in any way.

Power:

  • 10pwr to function / 11pwr (min) for the ancillary functions "Has Target" & "Low/No Ammo"
  • - Low Ammo will trigger at <= 50 bullets in Ammo Storage.
  • Ancillary output is capped at 1pwr no matter how much is being fed into the turret.
    • (i.e. Cannot power multiple lights.)

Authorization:

  • You must have TC Auth or not be building blocked to Auth on a unpowered turret.
    • (Or Authorization can be assigned by someone who is.)
  • If you have Turret Auth, but not TC Auth, you still cannot interact with the turret, to say give it ammo or set a ListeningID.

Remote Use:

  • Authed or Not, anyone can add a turret's 'ID name' via Computer Station - so make your ListeningIDs unique for safety. (These IDs are also Case Sensitive)
  • Cannot be used to kill animals.
  • If disabled due to turret interference limit, can still be remoted into and fired; however visibility will be very low with a 'weak signal'.

Range:

  • Auto Turret shoot range is a 30m max (gun used does not extend this).
  • 12 turret interference limit is 40m.
  • - Using binoculars can help measure distance for placement. Or a wire tool, which maxes out at 30m length.

Gun slot & Attachments:

  • Accuracy gun attachments do not affect the turret, but Extended Magazine, Silencer, & Weapon Flashlight do. (Possibly +FireRate attachments work, but untested.)
  • - Weapon flashlight is always on, when equipped.
    • (If you takeout the ammo and de-auth, can be used as a spotlight to follow you around.)

Consider damage + fire rate, clip size, and craft cost when picking a weapon:
  • Python and Bolty are widely used because of their low craft cost and high damage.
  • AK and HMLMG are high damage, large clip size, but costly to craft. These turrets also attract grubs who will try and break the turret just for the gun.
  • - For best results, use incendiary rounds; they tick for extra damage as an enemy hides after being shot.

Extra:

  • Auto Turrets can shoot through double chain-link fence, but players cannot (only single).
  • Some people use the music Lasers Lights from the Voice Props DLC to disguises their turrets at night.
  • Pipe wrench Piping can be used to cover turret and it's laser - laser dot will only show if it's on you.
  • Un-powered turrets can be used to quickly reload guns (like the M249/HMLMG and Minigun) - which is very helpful during Patrol Heli event.
    • [Though this is possibly subject to be patched.]
  • They do not auto-heal in TC bubble.

Make sure to reload guns before placing them in auto turrets. Otherwise, the auto turret will take a moment to reload before firing at an enemy for the first time.
