The amount of energy produced by solar panels is also dependent on their health. So damaged panels stolen from raided bases will generate less power than new ones. Repair them with HQM before or after placing them. This was quite a head-scratcher for me when i tried to use stolen panels.

Panels do not block each other, so they can be placed close or even clipping into each other without losing power.

The sun that you can see isn't the sun that powers solar panels. The actual "sun" is somewhere in the middle on the map, its position depends on the env.month variable and is somewhere around the middle of the map. To achieve maximal efficiency, you should place your solar panel facing north if you are in the south of the map and facing south if you are in the north of the map. This was experimentaly proven.

Unlike the wind turbine that works both day and night the Large solar panel only generates power if its facing towards the sun Less sunlight = Less power

Point the solar panel to the center of the map, as if it was the equator line. If you are close to the center put 1 facing north, 1 facing south and check the one that is getting 20 power the most of the day.

Large solar panels generate 0-20 power during the day. It will only generate power during the day so make sure you have connected to a rechargeable battery for maximum performance.
NOTE: If your large solar panel suddenly stops producing as much power as it used to check the durability. The lower the durability the less power the panel can produce.

Solar is now based on the direction of the sun which changes throughout the rust year.

the solar panels are compact and fairly unnoticeable.
Although the wind turbine is better in terms of power generation, it acts like a huge beacon begging for you to be raided) if you want more power increase the number of solar panels, with 8 or more solar panels you can generate more power than a turbine.
I recommend using for small to medium bases.
