Always remember that Shotgun Traps can be put onto ceilings and walls, not only floors. When walking through a destroyed door, if there is an open second floor above, there might be a Shotgun trap placed on the outside wall, pointing down. This prevents the trap from being spotted when checking the inside of a base from a save distance.
Although usually placed inside behind doors, they can be put on the outside walls of your base, for example under stairs or open wood foundations, for example to protect your Hemp Seed

Shotgun traps can shoot through twig building blocks, keep this in mind when building trap bases for a sneaky surprise!

Shotgun traps are invincible to incendiary rockets and won't take damage from the fire.

5 f1s are the cheapest and easiest way to get rid of a shotgun trap, if it's at an angle just bounce it off of a wall, (i say cheapest because it only takes some gp and frags) it even can hit a shotgun trap on that is a half wall above the wall it's behind/above (though it does take a few more f1s sometimes) best of luck traveler

When placing shotgun traps, be aware that a single shot from a trap rarely kills. So, depending on placement, one might easily be able to just walk through the shotgun trap. So, either force the enemy to walk slowly through the range of the shotgun or place multiple traps so that there is no safe spot.

If you place a series of shotgun traps behind a double-door linked to a door controller, HBHF sensor and timer, you can ensure the traps are only exposed when something is in their line of fire, making them nearly impossible for raiders to bait or destroy without tunneling straight through your walls.

You can raid with shotgun traps if you deauth from the tool cupboard and stand on top of them. (Cheaper way to get rid of misplaced high external walls) Credit to Gabe
